Let the Phoenix rise...

Golden Tiki, in the form of Ryan "Busta" Boltoon
will be on the road shortly...
His "Bat Outta Hell" tour, is for a great cause,
but more of that later...

It has been three years since Busta did my previous tattoo.
It does take me a while to decide on a design,
and where to place it.

Getting ready to face the ink.
Preparation and hygiene is VERY important.

This was the design that I finally chose.
I wanted a Phoenix as it represented what I do often,
re-invent myself ...
(or more specifically my career path)

Let the work begin!
Transfer done, no turning back.
In Greek mythology, the Phoenix is a long lived bird that is cyclically reborn.
It arises from the ashes of its predecessor, after dying in a show of flames.
Sometimes some of my endevours have done exactly that...
crashed and burned, but I am always able to bounce back.

Often tattoo studios seem to have two things in common,
a passion for LARGE snakes and coffins!
This particular studio has several coffins
and two VERY large pythons.

That moment...
"Are you ready"...

Off we go...

All concentration...
although Busta and I were having a conversation

Line work done.
But still only half way towards completion

It went from this...

to this...

But Busta wanted to add his own "signature" to the piece

A bright orange outline...
To represent the fire from which this mythical creature rises

The finished piece!
I have been told that once the redness vanishes,
the orange will become more prominent...
If you are considering having work done,
give Busta a try.
